Implants

Dr. Hui is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry which means implants are his passion and area of expertise. He offers a variety of solutions for missing teeth, bone, or gum concerns that will meet your needs. All patients will receive a complimentary cone beam computed tomography scan (CBCT).

Why dental implants?

Your teeth are meant to last a lifetime, but sometimes they don’t! Missing teeth can impact the health of other surrounding teeth and contribute to other gum problems. Not only do you lose your chewing abilities, but your smile may also affect you both personally and professionally.

Dental implants are considered the most efficient and effective solution for missing teeth. Other treatment options such as bridgework and dentures are not permanently fixed and do not last as long. Bridgework is the most invasive and requires the adjacent teeth to be shaved down to small nubs. With dental implants, you can have a more natural and confident smile!

Implants can replace:

  • A single tooth
  • Multiple teeth
  • Full mouth rehabilitation

Implants are made of titanium and act as the foundation like the root of a real tooth. Not only can they replace one tooth, but they can aid in a full mouth restoration. Similar to the concept of muscle atrophy, bones take on that process and begin to deteriorate once the tooth is lost. Implant placement can maintain bone architecture and prevent bone loss. Therefore, implants are the most cost-effective, natural and least invasive way to replace missing teeth.

Advantages of implants:

  • Esthetic
  • Confidence
  • Reliability
  • Prevent bone loss

What can I expect after treatment?

After treatment, Dr. Hui will work closely with you to follow up with a maintenance program to ensure your treatment plan is tailored to your needs. It is important that your implants are taken care of just like your own teeth. With proper patient maintenance and diligent brushing and flossing, your implants can last a lifetime!

FLAPLESS IMPLANT SURGERY

Without making an incision, an implant can be placed after electronic surgery is performed on a computer. No bleeding, no swelling, and no pain!

Immediate Implant Placement after Extraction

An implant can be placed immediately after extraction. This process reduces bleeding, pain, and swelling. The most important advantage is to maintain bone architecture and gum level that will highly improve the success rate of the implant and optimize the overall esthetics. This is currently the latest implant placement technology in the world.

BONE GRAFTING SERVICES

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that regenerates bone in order to maximize the outcome of dental implant surgery. Due to trauma or wearing dentures, loss of bone volume and density will occur. The bone’s only purpose in the mouth is to support a tooth and facial esthetics. If the tooth is absent, the bone will begin to reabsorb unless it is immediately replaced with another tooth or an implant.  Bone grafting can recreate the bone and replace full functionality.

Bone Loss

The process of bone loss begins as soon as even one tooth is missing. With some time, the bone can deteriorate and shrink by 30% within just six months to a year after extraction. This condition leaves the patient without enough bone to provide support for an implant. Fortunately, implant doctors today have the ability to grow bone wherever needed. This allows Dr. Hui to customize the bone’s size and width according to the patients needs. Not only does this allow him to restore what is missing, but it also preserves the optimal functionality and esthetic appearance.

Latest Bone-Grafting Protocols

ADVANCED-PLATELET RICH FIBRIN (A-PRF)

Dr. Hui is proud to use the most advanced methods to improve healing times and achieve beautiful results for your smile. A-PRF is used for oral surgery and bone graft procedures in preparation for implants. By obtaining a small sample of the patient’s blood, growth factors and stem cells can be extracted and used to accelerate healing times and reduce swelling and pain.

A-PRF obtains growth factors and immediately places them directly into the surgical site. This helps to promote bone, blood vessels, soft tissue, collagen and fibroblast growth. The presence of these proteins play a special role in the healing process by increasing bone stimulation. It has been scientifically proven that A-PRF rejuvenates the site so that patients are not prone to infections or implant failure.

INJECTED-PLATELET RICH FIBRIN (I-PRF)

I-PRF is sometimes used in conjunction with A-PRF when needed. A small amount of blood is obtained so we can access the concentration levels of white blood cells and stem cells. This concentrate is then injected into the bone graft particles in order to coagulate and solidify the particles, known as i-bone. The particles are then inserted in the surgical site to improve the results of bone grafts.

Advantages of platelet concentrates:

  • Accelerated healing
  • Low infection risk
  • Increase bone stimulation

Ridge Augmentation

Ridge augmentation is an effective procedure especially coupled with iBone to improve bone foundation and longevity of the implant.

The missing bone can be filled with bone graft material which can help rejuvenate bone growth. A few months of healing will be required in order for the bone to grow. This procedure can improve esthetic appearance and functionality and provide a strong foundation for an implant.

Sinus Lift

Sinus lift is a bone-grafting procedure to improve bone volume before replacement of upper back teeth. The sinuses are empty space located above the upper jaw behind your cheeks. Some of the roots of our natural teeth extend up into these sinuses. When these teeth are removed, the thin layer of bone between the sinus and the mouth is too thin to hold an implant. The solution to this problem is the sinus lift which allows the bone graft material to be inserted into the sinus. After several months of healing, the new bone formed becomes part of the jaw and a sturdy foundation for one or several implants.

TEETH IN A DAY & GRAFTLESS SOLUTIONS

Are there any solutions besides bone grafting? Yes! To avoid the bone grafting procedures, the All-On-4 technique can be used. This involves a full prosthesis loaded on four implants that are anchored in places around an arch that has more bone density than others. By tilting the implants at a certain angle, more support and leverage can be achieved. The All-On-4 process is cost effective, less invasive, and saves time.  Within a short amount of time, this concept allows a patient to walk away with fully functioning teeth and a wonderful smile.
